Spring Branch Presbyterian Academy is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic general caregiver to join our team. This position involves providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children ranging from infants to elementary age. The ideal candidate will support classroom teachers, assist with daily routines, and foster a positive atmosphere where every child can learn, grow, and thrive.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
- Assist with feeding, diapering, toileting, and other personal care needs for infants and toddlers.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom and play area in accordance with state licensing and health standards.
- Support lead teachers with lesson plans, activities, and daily schedules.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff to ensure consistent care and a positive learning environment.
- Monitor children for signs of illness, injury, or developmental concerns and report observations to the lead teacher or director.
- Help set up meals, snacks, and nap times in accordance with program guidelines.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; CDA or early childhood education coursework preferred.
- Previous experience working with children in a daycare, preschool, or similar setting is highly desirable.
- Must meet state childcare licensing requirements, including background checks and CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills.
- Compassionate, patient, and able to adapt to the needs of children at different developmental stages.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs (e.g., lifting or carrying young children).
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, or move for extended periods during the day.
